On our way home from Vancouver BC, we stopped by Ardiri Winery to visit one of our favorite collectors, John Compagno. Over the years he's collected upwards of 50 paintings, and has even used my artwork for several of his wine labels. His vineyard is spectacular with views of the Willamette Valley and Mt. Hood on a clear day.
John gave us the tour and shared the background behind the wine making process, which is more science than one would expect. Fascinating even for non-drinkers like us!
Check Ardiri out if you're in the Portland area and want to spend the day in Oregon's wine country!๐งก๐งก๐งก

Installation in Vancouver!
These collectors drove down from Vancouver to my studio in Southern Oregon to meet me in person and commission a painting! Last night I returned the favor and drove the painting up to Canada to install it in their home.
Nothing beats the look on their faces when they saw the painting hanging up on the wall that had been bare for 3 years! Jill's comment afterwards was so beautiful:
"It's amazing. It suits the house and it suits us. This place is meaningful to us. But having that view and we felt such a great connection with you. It multi layers the meaning of this painting for us because it's not only a painting of a place that we love to be at but also having the connection with you gives it a deeper meaning. It isn't just a picture that we saw and bought. I'm so glad we came down to your studio and connected with you and saw your work and we just like you so much and it's such a special piece for us to have. And not only that it's a place we love but knowing that it was painted by someone we feel so connected to."

40x80 Fall Aspen Commission Completed for Canadian Couple!
Ahhhhhh. Take a moment and breathe in the fresh Autumn air! This is one of my favorite times of year...and painting Fall is always a delight. ๐๐
This 40x80 Fall painting was commissioned by a lovely couple from Vancouver, BC. They drove down from Canada to visit my studio in Southern Oregon, and to discuss their special commission. It was so fun getting to know them! By the time they left, we had the details all worked out. This piece will be the focal point of the room, so they wanted it to be perfect. They also wanted it to be really special, so they gave me photos of their cabin and lake to incorporate into their piece. Also, amidst the Aspens on their lake, are evergreens — so I added that to their painting as well.
And I just heard back from them: Painting approved! ๐งก๐งก๐งก
If you've been thinking about commissioning a piece, I have just 2 spots left in my schedule.

Art Runs in the Family!
Meet my Uncle Eric. He's an artist too. Actually, I have 3 uncles and 1 aunt who are artists—all from my Mom's side of the family. Out of 6 children, 4 of them are artists! What are the odds? My Mom felt like she didn't get the gift, but she passed it down to her daughter! ๐ฉ❤️๐ฉ
Do any of you have any artists in the family?๐ฉ๐จ
Growing up with all of those artists, my Mom easily recognized the signs in me by the time I was barely out of diapers!
You can always tell who those budding artists are...the kids who can sit for hours drawing and doodling, unaware of the passing time. ๐จ
Yep, that was always me...especially in math class! Lol.
So when my Mom, my Aunt Chris and I planned a trip to Maui, we knew a hopper flight to the Big Island to visit Uncle Eric was a must! He'd lived on the island for 30 years, and we had never visited him. I think in my entire life I had only met him once?
And I'm so glad we made the trip! Our time together became the highlight of the entire week! I loved seeing him in his element—an art studio in the middle of the jungle! ๐ด๐ด๐ด
He does a bit of everything—from watercolor on canvas, miniature ship building, to tinting gourds with alchemical dyes. It was so fascinating to watch him in action! ๐คน๐ผ♂️
I guess art does run in the family! What's your story?

Pop of Color—Big Aspen Art!
So fun meeting James and Lily at the Sausalito Art Festival this past weekend!
When they saw my 72x24 "Joyful Fall," they knew it was perfect for the wall at the top of their stairs.
It brought that pop of color they were looking for!
After the show, I brought the painting over and hung it for them. They loved it there! Brought so much color and pizazz to the wall!
James had the best quote: "I can't wait to wake up tomorrow morning and see this painting on the wall."
❤️❤️❤️
